The Segraves Form Filler technology has now been extended to include a new version of the Universal (SAR) Application Form, based on the PDF form which was approved at the February 2003 Trustees Meeting. This form combines the applications for Regular Membership, Junior Membership, Youth Registrant, and Supplemental into a single form.
The new PDF form is composed of three components as follows: 1. the above-cited PDF, 2. the NSSAR logo, and 3. an AcroForm containing all of the objects needed to make the PDF in 1. fillable, as well as submittable. The assembly of these components into a completed PDF form, as well as the generation of all of the elements of the AcroForm in 3. above, were performed with a Java program based on the FOSS library iText (by Bruno Lowagie and Paolo Soares). See http://www.lowagie.com/iText/MPL-1.1.txt for the MPL under which iText is licensed, and http://www.lowagie.com/iText/ for links to the iText library source code.
Trial use of the Segraves Form Filler at this site is available for "free" use by registered users only. Registered users have agreed that the Author assumes no liability which might arise out of the Registrant's use of the form(s) and that the trial use of the form(s) may be terminated at a future date (TBD) without advance notice, after which a reasonable charge for use of the form(s) may be made.
The Author has used the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) technology to ensure that Users with Windows, MAC and Linux operating systems will be able to use the forms. No other SAR forms program offers this portability and ease of access. Other than the use of the PDF format and the original PDF form from NSSAR, no other use of Adobe products, e.g., Acrobat, was involved in the generation of the new PDF form.
The new form allows you to submit work in progress to the Author's web site, where a program (known as a script) will convert your form data into a format that is readable by your form, returning the results directly to you. You can then resume your work at your convenience, rather than having to complete the application during a single computer session, as you must do if you use the static PDF on the NSSAR web site.
There's only one major requirement. Your web browser must be configured to use Acrobat Reader as a plugin, i.e., Acrobat Reader must load the PDF form into your browser window, rather than Acrobat Reader's window.
The best way to determine if your computer is configured correctly is to try it out. So, if you're ready, please proceed with the registration process.
Thanks in advance for registering to use the Segraves Form Filler.
